Special Veterinary Programs

HOPE Program Application

Hope Income Table

SCCA's HOPE Program is now taking in new clients.  Application forms are available at the shelter or online. Click on the above link.

SCCA does not offer full-service veterinary care to the public.  However, we can help animals in urgent need on a case-by-case basis:

veterinary servicesThe HOPE program, as its name suggests, offers “hope” for pets whose owners cannot afford to pay for their much-needed veterinary care. Designed to assist pet guardians in financial need, HOPE ensures quality veterinary assistance for dogs and cats who otherwise might not receive care.

Clients who qualify for the HOPE program are provided with necessary veterinary services at a relatively low price:

  • Estimates are given at time of initial visit at SCCA, when payment is due.
  • Full payment is always required before any treatment can be administered.  Refunds or additional charges may apply.
  • All animals treated under the HOPE program must be previously spayed or neutered or permission must be given to SCCA to perform sterilization surgery on the animal.
  • All animals over the age of 4 months must have a current rabies vaccination.
  • Appointment is necessary.  An appointment will be made for the earliest possible time and day that SCCA has available.

How to qualify for HOPE:

Vet Referral:  Veterinarians refer patients to us who are, for some temporarily financial reason, unable to pay for their pet's care.  Animal must be seen initially by a full-service veterinarian, and veterinarian must submit to SCCA a documented referral to SCCA.  Once a referral is submitted, our veterinarian will take over care for the animal at a discounted price.  Follow up care is done by the referring veterinarian.

Government Assistance/Fixed Income:  Clients that receive some form of government assistance (i.e., food stamps, SSI) will be considered for treatment under the HOPE program (no referral is necessary).  Documentation of government assistance must be provided and copied for our records.
