Animal Intake

SCCA rescues dogs and cats from two primary areas of immense need in Northern Arizona:  from Native American lands - where pet overpopulation and the plight of homeless dogs and cats are a serious and heartbreaking problem – and from other Arizona shelters.  Each animal must pass a strict behavior assessment to help assure the animal is safely adoptable.  SCCA provides necessary veterinary care, including medical assessments, spay or neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchipping.  We then are usually able re-home these animals with responsible new individuals or families.

SCCA also rescues "small critters" when space permits.

SCCA does not take in animals directly. The animals at Second Chance Center for Animals come from our partners in animal rescue -- other Arizona shelters and rescue organizations. Animals in Coconino County must be taken to Coconino Humane Assocation.
